Understand what is moving
Galvanometer-driven mirrors direct the beam. This allows the marking path to move without moving the entire part for every feature inside the usable field. The scan head does not by itself identify the laser source, available power or approved marking area. Those depend on the complete system and its configuration.
Separate field size from part size
A part may be larger than the area processed in one field. Whether it can be marked depends on access, positioning and any required movement between regions. Conversely, a small part may be difficult because of its shape or a restricted mark location. Provide both the overall dimensions and the actual area containing the mark.
Read equipment photos cautiously
A label reading “Galvo Scanner” identifies a component type, not necessarily the manufacturer of the whole machine. Ask for the model and configuration when that information is required for supplier qualification. For most quote requests, the more useful first step is to provide the part drawing, material and required result. The supplier can then explain the relevant setup.
