Work from the assembled panel
Lay out the labels with switches, displays and fasteners shown. A clean flat-panel drawing can miss a label that becomes hidden behind hardware. Include viewing direction and the installed orientation. If the same panel is sold in multiple configurations, keep each approved artwork version clearly identified.
Compare appearance requirements
Screen printing can be considered for ink-based legends and graphic areas. Engraving produces a recessed feature and may be combined with a separately specified fill. Tell the supplier whether exact color, recess, contrast or resistance to wear is the priority. Avoid mixing those requirements into a single vague request for an “industrial finish.”
Plan artwork changes
A wording change can require new preparation even when the panel geometry stays the same. State the artwork revision on the purchase order and define who approves the final layout. Keep operating instructions and label names consistent with the product documentation. For multilingual panels, check the longest text string before approving the mark area and character size.
